A Moment of Community and Joy
Salesian oratories have always been special places where young people and families gather to grow together, inspired by the charism of Saint John Bosco. The events held in these spaces are not just simple occasions but genuine celebrations of community, education, and spirituality.
Therefore, you are all invited to the Don Bosco Feast on February 2, 2025.
The Essence of the Salesian Feast
The celebrations at the Sant’Anna Educational Center (formerly known as the Sant’Anna Oratory) are more than just moments of leisure. They reflect the fundamental values of Don Bosco’s educational system: hospitality, joy, education, and faith. Each event is designed to engage people of all ages, with particular attention to the young, who are the beating heart of the Salesian mission.
The History of Oratories
Catholic oratories, in the contemporary broad sense post-Industrial Revolution, were born from the intuition of Saint John Bosco, who—following in the footsteps of Saint Philip Neri—managed to “Catholicize” the renowned Anglican Christian YMCA organization. This was a response to the new social challenges of a growing, diverse, and industrialized Turin (and a newly united Italy) during the 19th-century Industrial Revolution. By merging the goals of Sir George Williams on one side and Saint Philip Neri on the other, Don Bosco created something extraordinary.
The Educational Significance of the Feast
Every activity proposed during these celebrations has an educational purpose. Following Don Bosco’s preventive approach, the Sant’Anna Educational Center (formerly known as the Sant’Anna Oratory) becomes a place where young people of all ages can grow in a healthy and stimulating environment. Through play, prayer, and dialogue, they learn values like solidarity, respect, and responsibility.
A Universal Message
The celebrations of the Sant’Anna Educational Center (formerly known as the Sant’Anna Oratory) are not limited to regular participants. They are open to the entire local community to share moments of joy and reflection.
Everyone is welcome to be part of the activities at the Sant’Anna Educational Center (formerly known as the Sant’Anna Oratory). It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, whether you believe, how often you go to church, what you vote for, and so on—the Sant’Anna Educational Center (formerly known as the Sant’Anna Oratory) is waiting for you!
