The start of a new scout year is always exciting, and this year it is even more so because we have a group of new boys full of enthusiasm, willingness and ready to get involved. The novitiate is a special period for boys moving from the troops to the R/S branch: a time of growth, discovery and adventure, which will lead them to become explorers of themselves and of the community.
What is the Novitiate and What awaits the New Boys
The novitiate represents a crucial time of transition and growth. During this year, the boys will discover the importance of responsibility, teamwork and self-discovery. They will be engaged in outdoor activities, service projects and challenges that will take them out of their comfort zone. Through this journey, they will learn about themselves and make conscious choices.
But it will not just be a year of challenges. There will also be times of sharing, laughter and new friendships. Every outing, camp and meeting is an opportunity to create memories and to learn from others. The novitiate is the place where young people grow together, supporting each other and building bonds that last a lifetime.
Walhalla
This year’s novitiate is called ‘Walhalla’, in honour of thetemple of the same name located near Regensburg, and symbolising the underworld of the heroes of German history, with busts of the great German people inside, including Dutch and Austrian personalities who have influenced not only Europe, but the whole world, in the fields of science, the arts and politics.
A few names on the inside? For example, the diplomat Otto von Bismarck, but also the activist and partisan Sophie Scholl and the physicist Max Planck.
This year’s novitiate is led by Giorgio and Carmelo, with the support of Sister Jade.
A Message to Our Novices
Dear Novices, welcome to our group! You are here for a reason: because you have the strength and courage to put yourselves on the line, to go one step further and to live each experience to the full. Remember that this journey is yours, and it will be as meaningful as the commitment and passion you decide to put into it.
We are here to accompany you and to experience this extraordinary journey with you. The road will be long, but together we will travel it in the Scout spirit, ready to overcome every obstacle and discover new heights.
